What could be more exciting than
exploring a shipwreck?
The anticipation of what lies around
the next corner.
The history of the ships and men that
long ago sailed the lakes and seas, but
now lie silently on the bottom.

But, before you jump in and start your adventure remember....

Like other specialty areas of sport diving, ship wreck diving requires special training.

The course is designed to familiarize divers with the skills, knowledge, planning, organization, procedures, techniques, problems, hazards and excitement of diving on wrecks. It will develop your practical knowledge of the underwater wreck environment. Raise your awareness of the historical value of wrecks. And enable you to plan and organize dives to safely explore wrecks found within depths and conditions as good or better than those you were trained in.

With your instructor you will have the opportunity to swim the outside of a wreck identifying and avoiding potential hazards. Map a wreck (or portion of a wreck) determining approximate size and marking points of interest. Survey a wreck for potential penetration points. Deploy and retrieve a penetration line. And learn to navigate a wreck so that the ascent point can be located without surfacing.
