Key Largo provides the marine enthusiast with the most spectacular underwater scenery in North America. Home to the 3rd largest coral reef in the world and famous shipwrecks such as the Duane and Spiegel Grove, there is every scenario imaginable to entertain boaters, kayakers, snorkelers, free-divers, scuba divers and technical divers. From 3 feet to 300 feet deep, Key Largo has it all. Silent World operates within the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, in specially protected 'Sanctuary Preservation Areas'. Three important navigational lights stand within these areas, acting as sentinels beckoning to those who seek the adventure of the underwater world. To the North is the 112 foot tall Carysfort Light, named after a British ship that grounded there in 1770. This lighthouse replaced a lightship in 1852 and is now the oldest functioning lighthouse in the United States. Containing a complete home, work area and cistern, it was manned full-time until it was automated in the 1930s. The Elbow Reef Light is roughly in the middle of the Sanctuary and marks a distinct bend or elbow, in the reef-line where it turns from running south to a more South Westerly direction as it heads towards Key West. At the southern end of the Sanctuary is the famous Molasses Reef Light, which is usually surrounded by dive and pleasure boats. The picture postcard light at Alligator reef marks the southernmost point of Silent Worlds operations, some 6 miles off shore of Islamorada. Throughout the Sanctuary and Park are scores of fascinating and varied dives from shallow inner reefs adorned with soft corals to deep ledges complete with giant barrel sponges.
365 Days a year, seven days a week, and three times a day our three custom dive boats will transport you and your friends to over 50 dive sites including all the wrecks off the Key Largo coast. Visit the Dive Sites section of our website for a wide range of photos and to learn the history behind these fascinating wrecks. Although we can write about it, there is no better way to discover more about these sites then from our experienced staff who have been diving throughout the keys for many years!

Key Largo isn't just about scuba diving, although it is one of the most popular reasons to visit. For those who are not divers, or those who are on an extended surface interval there is lots to do in sunny Key Largo. Just an hour's drive south of Miami, Key Largo is home to two state parks, a national marine sanctuary, a national park, and some of the most fascinating botanical scenery in the state. In 2010, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, America's first underseas park, celebrated its 50th Anniversary. We also invite you to explore Key Largo's Dagny Johnson Key Largo Hammock Botanical State Park, Everglades National Park and all the underwater delights of the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary during your stay.
To help our guests make the most out of their visit we have even arranged for special packages, rates, and discounts at some of the top locations in the Upper Keys.
Lodging, dining, drinking, relaxing, and all sorts of activities such as kayaking, parasailing and eco-tours await you as you cross over the bridge from the main land into Key Largo and the Conch Republic. For a full list of our partners visit our dedicated Hotels & Attractions page now.
