"The first dive I did on the Northern Light was particularly memorable. Firstly because we had only gone to the site to recover tackle left a few days earlier in a strong current and we found ourselves unexpectedly diving the wreck. Secondly, I just remember the awesome sight of landing in the sand, heading towards the fish and seeing the bow looming out of the gloom, draped in old style fishing net. The wreck was teeming with over 20 bull sharks and to this day I've never seen as many on the wreck."
"My first dive on the Queen of Nassau was also a dive I will never forget. Fantastic conditions allowed me to explore the entire wreck including the debris field off into the sand. A unique wreck due to her ram bow and also historically significant in her prior role as the CGS Canada, its always a pleasure to dive her and swim along the promenade deck complete with lifeboat davits that remind me of the Titanic. "I was living in England and working a corporate management job. I was in my early thirties and could see that I was starting to become too rooted into my career and I was getting bored. I wanted to work for myself and diving was fast becoming a passion, so I decided to look for a dive business to buy."
"After looking at Egypt, Spain and Indonesia, I decided the Keys would not only offer great diving, but also some decent infrastructure and would be a good place to raise a family in comparison to other countries where diving is popular."
"I came over to Florida and went diving with all the main shops in Key Largo. I fell in love with Silent World's laid back approach and quality trips. I went back to England, left my job, sold my house and went to Mexico to complete my instructor training. A week later I was on the plane to Miami and bought Silent World the next day!"
"I was always interested in technical diving, ever since I saw the DIR divers diving the English Channel from Portland. Their gear look so slick and simple and their diving seemed effortless in comparison to my clunky gear configuration and inadequate training. Coincidentally, the broker for the purchase of Silent World happened to be GUE instructor, so he got me squared away as soon as I could get him down to the Keys!"
"My current passion and pursuit for skills improvement is closed circuit rebreathers, plus a bit of cave diving when time allows."
"More rebreather purchases (laughs) and I would like to spend more time diving than doing paperwork in the shop."
"I have also been a professional drummer and I still have all my gear, although I never get time to play. My wife and kids are my main focus at the moment."
"Get out there and dive! Life is too short! "
